Shine a Light on My Ball

Through this project, children explored how light and shadow can change the way an object looks.

We drew a ball together and talked about how the shades change from light to dark depending on where the light comes from. Using charcoal, children experimented with different tones and gradients to give their balls a three-dimensional look.

This project introduced children to light, shadow, shading and gradation through a fun hands-on drawing experience.
